ST. LOUIS BIG BAND ANTI-HARASSMENT POLICY (Updated February 8, 2013):
The Director of The St. Louis Big Band (The Band) is committed in all areas to providing an environment that is free from harassment.
The Band will never tolerate unwanted or illegal harassment of any person working with or who are associated with The Band; or of The Band's customers and persons who are associated with them; or of persons working with or who are associated with the venues where The Band performs; or of the Band's employees, independent contractors or any persons who are associated with them; or of any other persons who areassociated with The Band...which is based on race, color, cultural heritage, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, maternity status, physical or mental disability, political affiliation, source of income, veteran status, or any other status protected under Local, State or Federal law will not be tolerated.
All independent contractors, employees and persons associated with The Band, are expected and required to abide by this policy.
Sexual harassment is behavior of a sexual nature that is unwelcome and offensive to the person or persons it is targeted toward. Examples of harassing behavior may include unwanted physical contact, foul language of an offensive sexual nature, sexual propositions, sexual jokes or remarks, obscene gestures, and displays of pornographic or sexually explicit pictures, drawings, or caricatures. Use of The Band's computer system, web pages, Face Book page or any other medium, for the purpose of viewing, displaying, or disseminating material that is sexual in nature may also constitute harassing behavior.
Any person working with or associated with The Band, who is found to be engaging in improper or illegal harassing behavior toward any person working with or who are associated with The Band; or toward The Band's customers and persons who are associated with them; or toward persons working with or who are associated with the venues where The Band performs; or toward the Band's employees, independent contractors or any persons who are associated with them; or toward any other persons who areassociated with The Band...will be subject to disciplinary action, including the possible termination of all relationship with The Band, without notice.
The Band has "zero tolerance" to any form of sexual harassment or improper or unlawful harassment.
Respect for the dignity of others shall be the guiding principle for our relations with each other, our customers, and everyone we come into contact with as The Band.
No person will be adversely affected as a result of bringing complaints of unwanted or unlawful harassment to the attention of Ryan Sheehan, the Director of The St. Louis Big Band.
